The B898 runs in a north-westerly direction following the western bank of the River Tay in Perthshire for eight miles. It leaves the A9 in the south just before the river crossing and ends on the A827 at Pitnacree Bridge.
This milestone can be found on the eastern verge near Balmacneil Farm nearly halfway along the route. The white stone has been refurbished and has three placenames in black lettering. They are to the south, along the A9, Dunkeld, and the city of Perth, and to the north on the A827, the village of Kenmore at the east end of Loch Tay.
