The neo-Classical Custom House is located on he north bank of the Liffey River. The stone building was built to a design by architect James Gordon from 1781 to 1791 to replace a previous Custom House built in 1707. The rectangular building is 375' long facing the River Liffey and 225'deep.
The stamp was issued om April 11, 1991 by the Republic of Ireland to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the opening of the Custom House. The stamp is the high value of a set of 4 stamps in the Dublin, European City of Culture series.
