Poulsbo has had a public library since 1918, but it joined the Kitsap Regional Library system in the mid-1980s and opened its current location on Lincoln Road in 2001. Despite its small size, the Poulsbo Library is well worth a visit, with its beautiful manicured grounds, Scandinavian-inspired touches in the woodwork, dedicated areas for kids and teens, free Wi-Fi and public computers, meeting rooms, and a cozy fireplace where patrons may sit and chat. There are opportunities for patrons to make crafts, story times for babies and toddlers, even the "Read to a Dog" program designed to help young patrons practice reading by sharing a book with a therapy dog.
