Baptism font in St Bartholomew's church, Loweswater.
A plain octagonal font on an octagonal pedestal and square base.
In the early 19th century the church was in a poor state of repair, and a new building was constructed on the foundations of the building which preceded it, 67 feet long and 27 feet 8 inches wide. Completed and consecrated in 1829, and has survived to the present day, though extensively remodelled in 1884-6.
The entrance was at the west end (the porch on the north wall was added in 1886). The font was placed near the entrance on the south side, underneath a gallery reached by a spiral stair on the north side. The gallery and stair has since been removed.
