Located in the southeastern part of the park, the statue depicts a young man dressed in a short animal skin tunic with the animal's face on his chest. His left arm is leaning on a tree stump with a vine of grapes wrapped around it, while his right arm is raised behind his head.
Plaza de Armas offers seating and shade, statues, a monument to Chilean composer and conductor, Jorge Peña Hen and a fountain with a central work by sculptor Samuel Román Rojas, representing four seated naked female figures. It also offers concerts, shows and stalls around the perimeter selling crafts, souvenirs and food. There is also free wifi. The cathedral, the courthouse, the Museo Histórico Gabriel González Videla and government buildings border the park.
