The amount of hiking required to reach this marker is largely dependent on the type of vehicle one approaches with. A higher-clearance 4WD or AWD vehicle should be able to reach the area of N42 36.010 W107 13.430, while a medium-clearance AWD or 2WD vehicle (in dry conditions) should be able reach parking around N42 36.360 W107 12.315. A low-clearance 2WD vehicle should go no further than the turnoff from County Road 321 at N42 37.080 W107 11.820. Parking at any of these locations will require a hike over a steep and rocky granite ridge crest that allows one to access the smaller north-south ridge (that splits southward from the main bulk of this subset of the Granite Mountains) on which the quarter corner marker is located. As there are multiple possible routes to reach the marker, I will not recommend any one over another. Please come prepared with adequate food and water, an emergency locator beacon, and basic emergency survival essentials. This is a land of limited and often nonexistent cell reception; be sure to let someone know where you're headed before setting out to this location and watch out for rattlesnakes, mountain lions, etc. This is a spectacular and seldom-visited portion of the state that holds all of the solitude one could ask for with expansive views across the beautiful Granite Mountains.
