Baptism font in St Cuthbert's church, Lorton.
Laying midway between the twin villages of High and Low Lorton in Cumbria, lies an unassuming and modest little church with a history dating back to the 9th Century.
Records in 1690 – 1711 show that a stone font and cover were present at that time.
An octagonal bowl on a plain octagonal plinth. The bowl is carved with various religious elements, ihs, crosses and fleur-de-lis, set in quarterfoil niches.
