[FIN] Kaksiosainen muistomerkki sotaorpojen muistoksi Suomen sodissa 1939-1945. Siinä on pronssinen lapsihahmo ja hieman kauempana graniitista tehty korkeampi osa, joka kuvastaa talon raunioita. Teoksen on tehnyt Juhani Honkanen.
Muistomerkki on Lappeenrannan keskuspuistossa. Sen lähellä on hautausmaa ja Lappeen kirkko.
"Sotaorpojen muistomerkin taustalla ovat Kaatuneitten Omaisten Liitto ja Lappeenrannan kaupunki. Hankkeen suojelija on valtioneuvos Riitta Uosukainen.
Muistomerkin rahoitus on koottu keräyksistä ja lahjoituksista. Suurin lahjoittaja on Kaatuneitten Omaisten Liitto. Muistomerkin kokonaishinta on noin 100 000 euroa.
Sotien seurauksena sotaorvoiksi jäi noin 55 000 lasta. Heistä noin 28 000 on vielä elossa." [Source website] (

[EN] A two-part memorial commemorating war orphans in the Finnish wars 1939-1945. It has a bronze figure of a child and a little further away, a higher part made of granite, which represents the ruins of the house. The piece was made by Juhani Honkanen.
The memorial is in the central park of Lappeenranta. There is a cemetery and Lappee church nearby.
"The war orphans' memorial is backed by the Association of Fallen Survivors and the city of Lappeenranta. The patron of the project is state councilor Riitta Uosukainen.
Funding for the memorial is collected from collections and donations. The largest donor is the Society of Fallen Relatives. The total price of the monument is around 100,000 euros.
