Yes, there are fragrances. But there are also textures.
One of the best kept secrets in Niagara Falls is the Fragrance Garden for the Visually Impaired found on the grounds outside the Niagara Parks Floral Showhouse. This garden was planted as a centennial project of the NPC in 1985. Dozens of aromatic scrubs and flowers have been planted at the edge of a circular flower bed. Those in wheelchairs and visually impaired can taste and touch these plants at their eye level. A braille label is nearby each plant. The Fragrance Garden is located in the vicinity of the Niagara Parks Greenhouse.
Several varieties of each species are presented to provide subtle differences in scent and feel. Perennials (for example different types of thyme) and annuals (different types of basil) are planted here. The garden itself is circular in a raised bed with paved walkways (and rollways) alongside it to allow for access to all.
