[EN] Bishopric since 1823, Moulins will see the transformation of the Collegiate Church into a Cathedral, and the erection of the latter (nave, aisle and façade) from 1852 onwards by the architects J.B. Lassus and then Millet, under the impetus of Monseigneur de Dreux-Brézé. These works will upset the whole sector, leading to erase the trace of the eastern limit of the Castle: removal of the buildings closing the large and the small court.

The modern part, in neo-Gothic style, is similar to the buildings of the first half of the 13th century, and is made of white Chauvigny stone, alternating with Andesite from Volvic. It is thus distinguished from the old part by the use of different materials

Above the balustrades that crown the side walls, stand singular figures representing Bourbonnais peasants in regional costumes and animals. The interior of the cathedral contains the great Merklin organ (1580)
