Valle de los Ingenios was the engine of economical development of Trinidad, arguably the most beautiful town in Cuba. Most of the wealthy houses we can see in town were paid by money earned in this valley where sugar was produced in wide scale.
The railway was originally built to transport the product to town but nowadays is used only for touristic purposes.
The ride makes fr a half a day trip, with a pause for snacks before returning to town. Just a few years ago the trip was made with a steam locomotive but most likely it's now run with an old diesel one. But we never know.
There is a bar onboard and local live music will be played.
Journey takes at least half an hour, leaving Trinidad roughly around 9:30 AM.
Ticket can be purchased in the office in the center of Trinidad, preferably the day before the trip.
