This large barn was used to protect food and equipment used in the nearby Rotolactor milking shed.

Nearby you will see the remains of the of an innovative dairy which was able to process milking very quickly and at lower cost. Cows entered the circular building and were milked as the platform rotated. One revolution was enough to milk each cow.

Because of the size of the milking facility, a large storage barn was needed with speedy access to the inside.

While not architecturally interesting, the barn is functional.

Over time, this area has become part of the rural urban fringe of Sydney but this area will remain as a historical precinct, an important reminder of the rural industries in this area.

Plans have been announced to bring the Rotolactor back to life but no activity has been seen.
