In Eggenburg steht rechts vom Krahuletzmuseum eine sogenannte Urlaubergruppe.
So bezeichnet man bildliche oder figurale Darstellungen von Jesus Christus und
seiner Mutter Maria. Dabei verabschiedet sich Jesus vor der Kreuzigung. Der Name
Urlaubergruppe kommt vom mittelhochdeutschen Wort urloup (Erlaubnis,
wegzugehen). Auf dem Sockel befindet sich auch ein Inschrift:

VVE steht für Verschönerungs-Verein Eggenburg.
"Seit 1925 steht die 'Urlaubergruppe' - Figurenbildstock 'Abschied
Christi von Maria' in der Grünfläche beim Krahuletzmuseum am Krahuletzplatz.
Der früherer Standort war vor dem Kremsertor unter einer alten Linde. Eine
qualitätsvolle Figurengruppe auf einen Volutensockel gesetzt, die den
Abschied Christi von Maria zeigt, eine sogenannte 'Urlaubergruppe'. Auf der
Vorderseite vor einem vertieftem Feld sehen wir ein Putto, der ein Tuch
ausgebreitet hält. Das Denkmal stammt vom Anfang des 18. Jahrhunderts. Nach
Trennung der Pfarre Gars von Eggenburg (1564) fand alljährlich eine
Prozession von Eggenburg nach Gars statt. An der Stelle bei der
Urlaubergruppe wurde die Prozession verabschiedet 'beurlaubt'
beziehungsweise empfangen. Diese Figurengruppe wird dem Steinbildhauer
Johann Georg Schmutzer dem Älteren zugeschrieben.
Auf der Rückseite des Volutensockels sehen wir ein Textfeld: [siehe
oben] Darunter am Fuß des Sockels wurde 1933 die Inschrift mit: 'Erster
Standort 28m weiter vorne' ergänzt. Auch eine alte eiserne Laterne, eine
Spende von Alois Steininger, wurde 1933 montiert. 1987 wurde die
Urlaubergruppe 'Abschied Christi von Maria' durch den Verschönerungsverein
Eggenburg um öS 40.000 saniert."

In Eggenburg, to the right of the Krahuletz Museum, there is a group of
statues, Jesus Christ's farewell to this mother Mary. This is a subject of
paintings and statues, where most of the time Jesus is calming his mother. Jesus says goodbye before the
crucifixion. There is also an inscription on the pedestal:

VVE is the abbreviation of "Verschönerungs-Verein Eggenburg"
(Beautification Association Eggenburg).
"Since 1925, the figural wayside shrine 'Christ's Farewell to Mary'
has stood in the green area near the Krahuletz Museum on Krahuletz Square.
The former location was in front of the Kremser Gate under an old linden
tree. A quality group of figures set on a volute base depicting Christ's
farewell to Mary. On the front, in front of a recessed field, we see a putto
holding a cloth spread out. The monument dates from the beginning of the
18th century. After the separation of the parish of Gars from Eggenburg
(1564), an annual procession took place from Eggenburg to Gars. At the place
near the vacationer group the procession was said goodbye 'leave' or
received. This group of figures is attributed to the stone sculptor Johann
Georg Schmutzer the Elder.
On the back of the volute pedestal we see a text field: [see above]
Below this at the foot of the pedestal the inscription was added in 1933
with: 'First location 28m further forward'. An old iron lantern, a donation
from Alois Steininger, was also mounted in 1933. In 1987, the group
'Farewell of Christ from Mary' was refurbished by the Verschönerungsverein
Eggenburg at a cost of öS 40,000."
