[EN] Located at the corner of the former Place du Pavé and the main street of the city, this half-timbered house has a commercial vocation. Built for a rich merchant family at the beginning of the 16th century, it has beautiful ornate half-timbering. The door, with an accolade crowned with a flower, is surrounded by posts decorated with grapes and vine leaves. It is called "Red House" because of the color used for its restoration in the 19th century. In her novel André, George Sand had her heroine, a florist named Geneviève, live there.
Before going out of a small tortuous and deserted street, he showed her an old brick house, whose sides were framed with roughly carved wood. An awning roof extended around it and shaded the narrow windows.
