"Transformer house 'Odoorn'
The transformer house 'Odoorn' was built around 1935 in a traditionalist style. This is a common model, which, however, has acquired a rare richness in execution and flawlessness and is also in very original condition.
Shortly after its completion, the transformer house was enlarged entirely in style. The transformer house is built of brick with a rejuvenated trasram under a gable roof covered with 'tuil du nord'. The extension is a fraction narrower and lower, and also has a hipped roof. In the gable end of the oldest building section is the original wooden double panel door. On the street side you will find a bricked-in concrete name stone. In the long façade steel doors and light slots sealed with terra-cotta. The blind rear facade has decorative masonry surfaces.
In the early 1960s, the transformer house was converted to a transmission distribution station. It still provides electricity supply in the region of Odoorn, Schoonoord and Exloo today. Meanwhile, it is a national monument. "
