Reek Scharrelkippen bestaat al sinds 1927 en is nog steeds actief op het gebied van de handel in scharrelkippen. Opa Reek heeft het opgezet en nadien hebben onze ouders, Niek en Trien Reek, het voortgezet en uitgebouwd. Toen was er nog sprake van opfok op het eigen terrein samen met diverse andere opfokkers in Noord-Holland. De capaciteit was destijds 25.000 kippen die verspreid waren over 5 hokken. Onze klanten zijn en waren veelal boeren, zorgboerderijen en heel veel particulieren. Nadat vader Niek is overleden in 2015, hij ontving nog kort daarvoor de Pluim van de ZO, hebben Luuk (schoonzoon), Jan (oudste zoon) en Annemieke (dochter) het voortgezet. Niet meer eigen opfok, maar met de inkoop van goede legkippen via een betrouwbaar adres. Ook ruilen we nog steeds oude kippen in. Een uniek concept dat het nog altijd goed doet. De afzet daarvan loopt via diverse adressen door het land. Afhalen van de kippen gebeurt vaak op zaterdagochtend, voor veel families een echt uitje! Voor de boeren en zorgboerderijen bezorgen we de hennen aan huis. Er zijn nog altijd klantnamen die nog zaken deden met Niek en Trien, altijd bijzonder om de verhalen te horen. We willen graag dat mensen goed voor hun dieren (kunnen) zorgen en dus geven we veel informatie (mee en telefonisch). Mensen blij maken met kip en ei, dat is bijzonder om dat nog steeds anno nu te kunnen doen.

Reek Scharrelkippen has been around since 1927 and is still active in the trade in free-range chickens. Grandpa Reek set it up and afterwards our parents, Niek and Trien Reek, continued and expanded it. At that time there was still talk of rearing on their own grounds together with various other rearers in North Holland. The capacity at the time was 25,000 chickens spread over 5 pens. Our customers are and were mostly farmers, care farms and many private individuals. After father Niek passed away in 2015, he received the Pluim van de ZO shortly before, Luuk (son-in-law), Jan (eldest son) and Annemieke (daughter) continued it. No longer own rearing, but with the purchase of good laying hens via a reliable address. We also still trade in old chickens. A unique concept that is still doing well. It is sold through various addresses throughout the country. Picking up the chickens often takes place on Saturday morning, a real outing for many families! We deliver the hens to the homes of farmers and care farms. There are still customer names that still did business with Niek and Trien, always special to hear the stories. We want people to be able to take good care of their animals, so we provide a lot of information (by phone). Making people happy with chicken and egg, that's special to still be able to do that today.
