Outside the entrances of many of the Texas-based Buc-ee's Travel Centers is an oversized statue of a beaver. This beaver sculpture was commissioned by the owners of Buc-ee's Travel Center to place outside the many store locations as the company mascot and tourist attraction.

According to Wikipedia: "Co-Founders Don Wasek and Arch 'Beaver' Aplin opened their first store as partners, which is still open as of 2020, in Lake Jackson, Texas, in 1982. Aplin formed the name Buc-ee's by combining his childhood nickname; the name of his Labrador Retriever, Buck; as well as the appeal of Ipana toothpaste's animated mascot, Bucky the beaver."

Therefore, Mr. Aplin used a combination of his nickname, the name of his pet dog, and his awareness of the success of the old Ipana mascot of a beaver as a marketing tool from the 1950s to derive the name Buc-ee's and the current sculpture of a friendly beaver as the company mascot. The Buc-ee's Beaver statue has the smiling beaver in shoes and wearing a baseball cap. His is raised upright with his large flat beaver tail holing him steady as he opens his front paws as a welcoming gesture to the public customers coming to shop.

The Buc-ee's beaver sculptures are placed by the entrances of the larger corporate built locations. The sculpture not only provides a tangible symbol to associate with the store's name, but it also gives their customers a pleasant figure to take photos of or group pictures around. The sculpture gives embodiment to the beaver head shown in the company logo.
