The engraved bricks were donated in a fundraiser, sponsored by Bangor Historical Society, to raise funds to make infrastructure repairs and to beautify the Arlington Hill Cemetery. The brick patio is laid near a cannon and cannon ball monument in a section of the cemetery where hundreds of armed forces veterans are buried.
