The bank was built by the Bank of South Australia in 1872 - 73, but was taken over by the Union Bank of Australia in 1892 closing on 22 February 1943. The two storey building was designed in the Neo Classical style with face stone walls, rendered ashlar quoins Corinthian pilasters and a balustraded parapet.
