"Joseph O. Ernst, 92, fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Tuesday, May 17th, 2022. Loving husband of 70 years to Edith (nee Zoellner) Ernst; cherished father of Susan Gittemeier, Jan Parker, Nancy Sigillito, Linda Ernst, and the late Joseph G. (surviving Sally Wharton) Ernst; loving grandfather of seven and great-grandfather of thirteen; dear brother of Anna Mae Blanc, Don, Tom, Ed, the late Weldon, Arnold, Bernard, and Stan Ernst; dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend to many.
"Joe was a devoted husband and family man who met his bride in high school and married her on June 16, 1951. They raised their five children in St. Ann, Missouri and later Lake St. Louis, Missouri, enjoying family fun, boating and fishing. He was an enthusiastic golfer at Lake Forest Golf Club, and he and Edith enjoyed many travel adventures.
"Joe enjoyed a good card game, playing piano as his kids and grandkids sang, and made the best barbequed pork steaks on the grill! He was proud to lead the family business, J&J Siding and Window Sales, which he co-founded in 1953, now in the capable hands of generation two and three.
"Along with many wonderful memories, Joe will be remembered for his dedication to family, how hard he worked, and the respect he earned. He was a special man who touched many lives." ~ Hutchens-Stygar Funeral Home
