El padre Ángel y el párroco Peio Sánchez han bendecido este lunes en la parroquia de Santa Anna de Barcelona la estatua 'Jesús homeless', una representación del escultor canadiense Timothy Schmalzde de Jesús durmiendo en un banco, que simboliza a las personas sin hogar que duermen en la calle.

"Es una imagen significativa de nuestra iglesia que está abierta a cualquier persona que necesite un techo y representa la presencia de Jesús entre nosotros, al que en la estatua solo se le ven los pies, pero basta mirar a cualquier persona que esté durmiendo en la calle para ver su rostro", ha dicho el párroco de la iglesia, el padre Peio.

La estatua es una donación del director de cine y teatro Paco Arango, ganador del Premio al Cine Espiritual de 2018, y que añade Barcelona a la lista de ciudades en las que hay una estatua de Jesús durmiendo en la calle, un proyecto que pretende que en cada ciudad haya una estatua del artista canadiense en representación de "todos los hermanos que duermen en la calle", ha dicho Arango.

"En muchas ciudades no dejan a las personas sin hogar sentarse o dormir en los bancos, esta estatua representa la voluntad de que todos nos podamos sentar en los mismos bancos", ha dicho el padre Ángel, párroco de la iglesia de San Antón en Madrid y fundador de la oenegé Mensajeros por la Paz.
