A young cairn at St Kentigern's church, Keswick.
This small cairn of slate is growing outside the church. A sign nearby reads -
The Crosthwaite Cairn
Cairns exist across the world - they mark the way,
they offer guidance and reassurance, they offer a
fixed point in uncertain times. They tell us that
someone else has stood where we stand, someone
else has been where we are
and then continued on their journey.
The lives and memories of our loved ones stay with
us. A stone reminds us that memory is lasting. It
offers us a moment in which we can say, to ourselves
and to those we love
'be at peace, be at peace.'
We welcome you to place
a piece of slate
on the cairn in memory of
a loved one.
