"La commune achète cet ancien hôtel particulier le 26 octobre 1762 à Jean-Baptiste Le Picard, sieur du Montier, avocat au parlement. Du quadrilatère primitif subsistent seulement les ailes nord et ouest et, à la jonction une tour octogonale.

En 1893, un incendie détruit les combles de l'aile ouest; les ouvertures et la tour de l'escalier sont alors restaurées. Ces réparations restituent l'aspect initial du bâtiment, modifié au XVIIIè siècle.

A l'intérieur, une collection de faïences rappelle l'existence de deux manufactures à Aumale entre 1811 et 1834.

Des tableaux, croquis et dessins d'Alfred Le Petit, peintre-caricaturiste du XIXè siècle, natif d'Aumale, sont également exposés."

"The town bought this former mansion on October 26, 1762 from Jean-Baptiste Le Picard, sieur du Montier, lawyer in parliament. Of the primitive quadrilateral only the north and west wings remain and, at the junction, an octagonal tower.

In 1893, a fire destroyed the attic of the west wing; the openings and the staircase tower were then restored. These repairs restore the original appearance of the building, modified in the 18th century.

Inside, a collection of earthenware recalls the existence of two factories in Aumale between 1811 and 1834.

Paintings, sketches and drawings by Alfred Le Petit, painter-caricaturist of the 19th century, native of Aumale, are also exhibited."
