The First Swedish Methodist Episcopal Church was organized in 1880. The congregation outgrew it's church and constructed the present church, designed by Henry Eckland in the Gothic Revival style in 1926. The church then changed it's name to the Epworth Methodist Church, and again to the Epworth United Methodist Church. (visit link)

The main block of the red brick building with stone trim has gable roof and a taller tower on the southeast corner and a smaller tower on the south west corner. Both towers gave a Gothic style entrance at their bases. The southeast tower has a pair of Gothic stained glass windows above the entrance and a belfry with two Gothic louvered openings at the top. The southwest tower has a smaller Gothic window at the second level and a larger Gothic window at the third level.

The front of the main block has a set of four rectangular windows at the lower level and a large Gothic stained glass window with four parts on the lower level and 8 parts on the upper level. The sides of the church have a two story high tower followed by three large Gothic stained glass windows. Gable ends project from the back of the church. The east end has four tall stained glass windows. The west gable end has two tall stained glass windows and a connected addition.
