This old town is located 22 miles north of Callao, and west of the Desert Test Center. It was founded in 1892, and around 1917 grew rapidly when a branch railroad arrived. About 3000 folks eventually lived here, but by 1950 only 32 remained, and as late as 1980, 11 residents remained.
