Brick railroad depot built in 1909 for the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad and currently used as stop for Burlington Northern Metra service and Amtrak. One of the worst railroad accidents in Illinois happened on the tracks in front of this station on April 25, 1946. The Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad's Advance Flyer was parked at the station attending to a maintenance problem when it was rammed in the rear by the railroad's Exposition Flyer traveling 80 mph. forty-seven people were killed and over 100 were injured.
