The unhappy Count Teleke from Tlk intends to seek treatment for his nervous system from Doctor Bltwurst in a remote Carpathian countryside. It hasn't been long since this singing star lost his fiance, the prima donna of world operas, Salsa Verde. When he arrives at the mysterious castle, he sees a man buried in leaves. He learns from the man, the forest adjutant Vilja Dzi, an interesting story that happened to him. One evening, he tried to uncover the mystery of the strange castle, rumored to be haunted. He saw a light in one of the windows, climbed up, and saw a beautiful singing woman. The adjutant remembered that aria, and the count realized it was his long-lost love. Together, they embark on a dangerous journey to the castle, suspecting that the deceitful and cunning Baron Gorc, who had pursued Salsa in the past, is hiding there. Baron Gorc is using the inventions of the mad scientist Orfanik for his evil purposes. Orfanik has constructed a special device on Baron Gorc's orders that creates illusions of reality using beams of light.

Neštastný hrabe Teleke z Tölökö má v úmyslu na radu doktora Blütwürsta lécit svou nervovou soustavu na zaostalém karpatském venkove. Není tomu dávno, kdy tato pevecká hvezda ztratila snoubenku, primadonu svetových oper Salsu Verde. Když dojde pod tajemný hrad, spatrí jakéhosi muže zahrabaného v listí. Dozvídá se, že je to lesní adjunkt Vilja Dézi. Vyslechne od nej zajímavý príbeh, který se mu stal. Jednou k veceru se snažil odhalit tajemství podivného hradu, na nemž prý straší. Uvidel v jednom z okének svetlo. Vylezl nahoru a spatril krásnou zpívající ženu. Adjunkt si pamatoval onu árii a hrabe se dovtípil, že se jedná o jeho dávnou lásku. Spolecne se vydávají na nebezpecnou cestu do hradu. Tuší, že se v nem skrývá zákerný a podlý baron Gorc, jenž Salsu v minulosti pronásledoval a který ke svým zlocinným zámerum využívá vynálezy šíleného vedce Orfanika. Ten na jeho objednávku sestrojil zvláštní prístroj, který pomocí svetelných paprsku vytvárí iluzi skutecnosti.
