The rectangular cast bronze plaque is mounted on a green-painted metal pole at a 45° angle, set back just a little into the native plant landscaped median strip between the access road to St Joseph's Church and the other side of the road. A concrete footpath butts up to a narrow example of the kerbing stonework. The inscription of the Historical Marker reads:

HERITAGE PLACE
STONE KERBING
During the Great Depression, local governments and Main
Roads played a significant role in unemployment relief.
Broad median strips lined with limestone kerbing separate
the rows of traditional houses either side of this road.

This laying of limestone kerbing is a recurring theme in
Ipswich streetscapes. The Waterworks Road stone
kerbing and the footpath widening in Simmons Road
was completed in 1938.
