My first thought was a Saluki, but no - they have long hair on their ears, and close coats on their body. Not a saluki.
The long hair part also rules out the Wolf Hound, the Irish Wolf Hound, the Afghan, the Russian Wolf hound, ... well you get the idea
I think by the shape of it's head and muzzle, this is definitely a Greyhound.
He is sitting, and attentive, with head slightly raised and tilted, as if he smells something, but hasn't yet figured out just what that smell is; but, still dutiful, and guarding the front door.
