Lizzie Wyness, wife of a bookkeeper at XLT Ranch, died giving birth to her son. Her grave is believed to be the first in the cemetery. Her son lived but a month and is buried here under a home-made sandstone marker that simply says

WYNESS BABY

A metal marker nearby, with a date of August 1887, gives the full name as James Wyness Jr.

Date of Death: 7/28/1887
