Given that the population of Mosquero is a bit shy of a hundred, the "Village Office" suffices to take care of both town and county business. The entry is in the northeast corner of a large multipurpose building that primarily houses fire and emergency equipment.
Mosquero occupies only a square mile, mostly in Harding County (a small portion is in San Miguel County), and serves as the County Seat. The earliest census data is from 1930 and gives a population of 401. The population peaked a decade later and has been dwindling ever since. A large billboard in a nearby park urges visitors to consider Mosquero as a home, touting "personalized education" (due to very small class sizes), low cost of living, and high-speed Internet. And, as one might expect for a desert town, "abundant sunshine in all four seasons."
