KCS #28351 was built in 1919. It saw service until the mid 1950's.
The information marker indicates that the car originally had a wooden floor, but was one of only 7 modified with steel self-clearing hatches and a metal floor. This allowed the cars to unload through the bottom rather than by using a conveyer as had been the standard.
KCS operated about 200 of these cars.
The car is located at the Galveston Railroad museum, west of the old Santa Fe depot in downtown Galveston.
