Die Itterbecker Heide ist eines der größten zusammenhängenden Sandheidegebiete im südwestlichen Niedersachsen. Die Heidelandschaft ist geprägt von Dünen und Waldmoränen. Sie finden Zwergheide, Wacholderheide und Trockenrasen. Teile des Naturschutzgebietes werden forst- und landwirtschaftlich genutzt.

Das Gebiet steht seit dem 23. August 2007 unter Naturschutz. Es ersetzt das ursprünglich am 7. Oktober 1939 unter Schutz gestellte gleichnamige Naturschutzgebiet. Zuständige Untere Naturschutzbehörde ist der Landkreis Grafschaft Bentheim.

The Itterbeck Heath is one of the largest contiguous sand heath areas in south-western Lower Saxony. The heath landscape is characterized by dunes and forest moraines. You will find dwarf heather, juniper heather and dry grassland. Parts of the nature reserve are used for forestry and agriculture.

The area has been under nature protection since August 23, 2007. It replaces the nature reserve of the same name that was originally placed under protection on October 7, 1939. The district of Grafschaft Bentheim is responsible for the lower nature conservation authority.
