The Casa del Cid is also called the Palace of Arias Gonzalo because it is the house where the infants of León and Castilla, sons of Fernando I, grew up, together with El Cid and under the tutelage of Arias Gonzalo.

It is a Romanesque-style civil building, being one of the few that remain in Spain.

It is located next to the Puerta del Obispo, in front of the Cathedral. It occupies a privileged place, forming part of the first walled enclosure, where it has magnificent views of the Duero River.

The Casa del Cid is located in the southern canvas of the Puerta de Olivares or Puerta del Obispo, called the Optimal Door in the time of the Cid.

The building has a façade on the wall with two windows in the shape of a horseshoe arch. This looks like the oldest part of the building. As for the façade that looks at the Cathedral, it presents a door with decorated archivolts, possibly from the mid-12th century. It has a rectangular structure and only the four perimeter walls are preserved, made of a powerful masonry wall. The general masonry is made of masonry without any decorative element being able to stand out outside of the above. Inside there is a garden and a house that has been renovated several times since its construction.

In 1931 it was declared a historical-artistic monument and is currently a private house.
