The pit linked with the nearby Peckfield Colliery via rail allowing the coal to be transferred to the main line for distribution. The 2ft 6in gauge line took coal for processing at Peckfield Colliery, using elderly Hudswell Clarke 0.6.0 engines.

The remains of this coal mine are in two distinct parts.

The Southern End.

This was the part of the pit that housed the working buildings and train marshalling yard.

This area has been turned into a small enterprise park, with a mixture of colliery buildings and newer builds.

This part contains 2 winding houses, built in 1911, they were among the first to use electric winders – at a time when most other mines were still using steam. Both winding houses are Historic England Grade II Listed Buildings. Winding house number 1 faces Barnsdale Road (A656) and has a small overgrown walled garden area in front and high on the parapet a date stone of 1911. Both the winding houses have had all their equipment removed and the external winding wheels and shafts have been removed and sealed.

Although visible they are partly derelict, fenced off and cannot be entered.

The Northern End

This part of the mine, above the coal seams, has been returned to nature and is maintained as Ledston Luck Local Nature Reserve.

It is a 17.6 hectare greenspace that is home to woodlands, wetlands and meadows and has been colonised by a variety of wild flowers, birds and insects.

There are a number of footpaths through the reserve and there is access from Barnsdale Road (A656) to the north of the enterprise park or from the eastern end of Ledston Luck Village.
