Inside is a map of the tour and a little history of the Coniston copper mines.

"Mining was at its height during the 1850's. Waterwheels creaked, ore wagons clanked along rail tracks and gunpowder blasts shook the earth.

The industry is now silent but its monuments can be discovered across the fells."
