This memorial is in the form of a stainless steel model of a torpedo on a rock behind a a low wall and commemorates the coastal forces who used torpodes to defend the shores of the United Kingdom.

The town of Bury was chosen as the site for this memorial because it was invented by Robert Whitehead a Bury resident from a prominent family. It stands in a garden area donated to the Town of Bury by one of his relations, Henry Whitehead.
There are three plaques on the wall in front of the torpedo.

this plaque shows the badge of 'COASTAL FORCES VETERANS ASSOCIATION' that has a ship in the middle. Below this is the legend 'EAST LANCASHIRE BRANCH'
