Tom Hanafan River’s Edge Park is situated along the banks of the Missouri River in Council Bluffs, Iowa. It contains a large open-air amphitheater used for various festivals and events and provides a wonderful view of downtown Omaha, NE. It’s connected to Omaha via the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge, an S-shaped suspension bridge built in 2008 and which also provides a similar view.
And what the heck is that giant tin man doing looking up into the sky? Well, it’s called “Looking Up” by contemporary American sculptor Tom Friedman. And yes, it’s made of aluminum foil, pie tins and turkey roasters. But if you’re interested in seeing the sculpture, you’ll have to hurry as it’s only a temporary exhibit for 2023. The view of Omaha though, is permanent.
The coordinates are for the observation deck atop the River’s Edge Pavilion in the park.
