The lighthouse stands in the front lawn of a church, perhaps to guide visitors to the house of worship. Normally a lighthouse warns mariners to stay away, but this one beckons instead.
There are light bulbs in the tower, with a reflective top, so it does illuminate.
Antietam Creek, about a mile away, is not navigable. The Potomac River, three miles away, is not visible from here.
