First used in 1963, this wind finding radar was used to track balloons in remote locations, thereby giving an accurate reading of wind speed and direction at this location.
They were used for about 35 years and a historical reminder of the development of the modern wind radar. This exapmple is on display outside the Esperance Museum which is well worth a visit.
