A 1.5 meter (5 feet) high by 10.5 meter (34.5 feet) long city name sign for Nanaimo located in the downtown at Maffeo Sutton Park. The sign was installed on April 29th, 2021.

Maffeo Sutton Park is Nanaimo's signature park overlooking the harbour. The park is a central point along the Harbour Front Walkway. The park hosts countless community special events. It is a great year round destination for walking, playground, and picnics.
Each letter weighs between 136 to 181.5 Kilograms. (300 to 400 pounds)
The front and back of the letters are painted white, except the "O" that is multi coloured. The sides, including the inside of the "A"s and the "O" are painted blue. The letters are bolted to a concrete pad and is expected to last a minimum of 10 years. The $50,000 CAD cost was funded from the City of Nanaimo budget.
Mayor Leonard Krog said the sign "establishes a clear presence of pride of place."
The multi coloured "O" has multiple meanings such as the diversity of Nanaimo.
