This sculpture of a typewriter eraser comes from the pop generation of art. It was proposed by Swedish artist Claes Oldenburg in 1975 and actually sculpted by Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen in 1999.

Pop artists sought to make us appreciate the art and form of everyday items by changing their scale, setting, or spatial orientation, thereby taking away their context.

The sculpture's current home is at the Museum of Pop Culture. It is on long term loan to the park by Microsoft billionaire, Paul Allen.
