Willie Davenport was born in 1904 to his parents, local pioneers Jack and Zenobia (Davis) Davenport. They lost their son at the age of 7 months and 2 weeks, a not uncommon occurrence in early Texas.

He was buried under a carved tombstone with a Dove of Peace, a common funerary symbol on 19th and early 20th century gravestones.
