F 62 (MB0006) - Conneaut Lake, PA - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

This benchmark disk is located along the Ernst Trail, just to the east of McMichael Road (Brown Hill Road) near Conneaut Lake, Pennsylvania. It is across the road from a white house. The disk is set in a small concrete pillar and has an orange plastic post next to it designating the location of the survey marker. It is stamped "F 62" and "1935." The area near the survey marker has been recently cleared (spring 2023) for the construction of a parking area for the trail.

The most recent description on the datasheet is from 1994 and says:

2.3 MILES (3.7 KM) EAST ALONG THE FORMER BESSEMER AND LAKE ERIE RAILROAD FROM THE HIGHWAY CROSSING OF US ROUTE 6 OVER CONNEAUT LAKE OUTLET, TO A ROAD CROSSING. ABOUT 0.1 MILES (0.2 KM) SOUTHWEST ALONG BROWN HILL ROAD (TR 537) FROM THE CROSSROADS OF BROWN HILL ROAD WITH WEST VERNON ROAD (TR 429). THE STATION IS ABOUT 60 FEET (18.3 M) EAST OF THE CENTER OF THE BROWN HILL ROAD AND ABOUT 45 FEET (13.7 M) SOUTH OF THE CENTER OF THE OLD RAILROAD GRADE. THE STATION IS ABOUT 25 FEET (7.6 M) NORTH OF THE EASTERLY PROJECTION OF THE NORTHERLY WALL AND ABOUT 105 FEET (32.0 M) EAST OF THE NORTHERLY PROJECTION OF THE EASTERLY PORCH WALL OF A TWO STORY MANSARD ROOFED ALUMINUM SIDING HOUSE WHICH IS ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE ROAD AND ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE OLD RAILORAD GRADE. A POWER POLE (REA COP-18) IS SOUTH 25 DEGREES WEST, 54.5 FEET (16.6 M) FROM THE STATION. STATION IS A STANDARD DISK IN POST WHICH PROJECTS ABOUT 6 INCHES ABOVE THE GROUND SURFACE, CONCRETE IS SPALLED OFF OF ONE SIDE OF THE POST (THE DWELLINGS CALLED FOR IN THE ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION ARE ONE AND DATA WAS MIXED UP ANYWAY). A 6-INCH ELM TREE ON THE EDGE OF THE RAILROAD GRADE WAS BLAZED AND PAINTED FOR A WITNESS.
