Swamp Creek Road Bridge is an example of a typical multiple span
nineteenth century stone highway bridge. It was constructed of
semi-coursed, roughly squared stones in 1892. The arch spans are
relatively small (25') for a bridge of this construction date, but
stylistically this bridge is similar to the other bridges built earlier in Montgomery County. With its excellent integrity, roughly
squared stone construction, and styling it is a fine representative
of 19th century multi-span stone arch bridges in Montgomery County.
