This sculpture is located outside the Stamford branch of the CT DMV. It was made by Eddie Nino.

Every year, Stamford hosts a temporary exhibit called Art in Public Places with a new theme. In 2001, the theme was fiberglass cars that local artists decorated. The majority of the sculptures are auctioned off, while some find permanent homes.

"CARS are parked all over Stamford this summer -- on the front lawns of corporate headquarters, on busy intersections and boulevards, tucked under the trees in the city's parks, or parked smack in the middle of pedestrian traffic on the sidewalk.

Seventy clever little Fiberglas cars, each one original, sponsored by businesses and organizations based in Stamford and designed by local artists with a sense of humor. These are Stamford's Art-O-Mobiles, on display through Aug. 31.

The fleet of auto-art is part of Art in Public Places, exhibitions that are dreamed up, executed and maintained by Stamford Downtown Special Services District, a nonprofit corporation whose mission is to revitalize downtown."
