Ertstadt ist eine Gemeinde in Nordrhein-Westfalen, bestehend aus 18 Orten und Dörfern. Erp ist eines dieser Dörfer mit etwa 2.600 menschlichen und offenbar auch einigen tierischen Einwohnern. Denn in der Wahlengasse, einem kleinen Sträßchen im Westen des Dorfes, ist ein eher ungewöhnliches Warnschild zu finden: Katzen kreuzen hier wohl häufiger die Straße und sollen so vor Autofahrern geschützt werden.

Das Schild befindet sich direkt an einem Wohnhaus und ist eventuell von den Anwohnern dort montiert worden. Es ist aber im Stil der offiziellen deutschen Verkehrszeichen in Dreiecksform und mit rotem Rand. Nur dass in der Mitte des Schildes statt der üblichen Fußgänger, Radfahrer oder Rehe eine schwarze Katze abgebildet ist.
Ertstadt is a municipality in North Rhine-Westphalia, consisting of 18 towns and villages. Erp is one of these villages with about 2,600 human and apparently also some animal inhabitants. Because in the Wahlengasse, a small street in the western part of the village, you can find a rather unusual warning sign: Cats probably cross the street here more often and are supposed to be protected from motorists.

The sign is located directly on a residential building and may have been installed there by the residents. However, it is in the style of the official German traffic signs in the form of a triangle and with a red border. Except that in the center of the sign, instead of the usual pedestrians, cyclists, or deer, a black cat is depicted.
