Although the school was short-lived, the last principal having left in 1861, it was significant in educational and religious history. It recalls the middle class' first efforts to provide secondary educations for its children. That effort coincided with a local congregation's response to the national denomination's concern that education have a moral and religious base. It deserves recognition on these counts and also as an unusually fine and rare example of mid 19th century Greek revival architecture in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
The building is presently owned by the Wyoming Presbyterian Church & is used for Sunday School, church meetings. &. community activities.
