Michael's memorial is located in the so-called 'Apes Den' at Upper Rock, inside Gibraltar's Upper Rock Nature Reserve.

Apes Den is the best place to observe the monkeys which are in fact Barbary macaque not Apes. Apes Den is located near the cable car middle's station. The macaques are friendly and seem happy to pose for a photo. Locals and taxi drivers have given them a name and love them dearly as evidenced by the memorial they put up in honor of old Michael.
The plaque says: IN MEMORY OF OUR DEAR VENERABLE FRIEND "MICHAEL" THE LONGEST LIVING MACAQUE IN GIBRALTAR / R.I.P. / FROM THE TAXI DRIVERS
