A giant letter sculpture on the grass lakefront of Lake Terrace in Taupo has become an icon of the town and a popular place to stop for a photograph of the beautiful scenery of Lake Taupo with the mountains beyond.

Placed amongst other stunning sculptures along the lake edge, this Giant Lettering has popped up on the Taupo lakefront, and both tourists and locals can't get enough of it. The locals support it because they are very proud of their beautiful town beside the Lake.
"The #LOVETAUPO art sign went up on Wednesday (2017), just as thousands of visitors flocked into Taupo for Saturday's Ironman NZ race."
After some years of proving its great success, the sculpture was upgraded in December2020 with a more permanent landscaping surround.
The upgrade of the #LOVETAUPO sign involved upgrading the area surrounding the signage with pavers, etched concrete and timber platforms.
Landscape architect Fraser Scott said the idea is to create a more robust area to support the increasing number of visitors to the site.
"We have seen the popularity of the #lovetaupo sculpture continue to soar and this work will ensure the site can continue to cope with those numbers."
The slogan is 2 metres tall and 11m wide, made of solid white synthetic material, built strong enough to withstand continual clambering from large adults but aesthetically pleasing to the eye, blending with and enhancing the stunning backdrop. The large sculptured letters are beautifully illuminated at night.
The stunning backdrop view of Lake Taupo and snow-capped mountains make it the perfect photo opportunity.
